105th Trainees Squad Arc

6 Years after The fall of the Shinganshina District. A 17 year old Chadwick Stafford stood in line with his arms at his side. A few people to the right of him stood his 15 year old sister, Sarah. They stood in front of the row Markus Ritter and his girlfriend Caroline stood. The Trainee commander stood on top of a rock in front of the hundred trainees.

Markus stood silent, his arms behind his back as he waited. Finally, after six years it was time. Caroline stood at his right, seemingly bored.

Caroline silently tapped her foot as she waited, she didn't let on, but she was terrified. She wasn't sure she had what it took to do this. She hid the terror behind a bored expression.

"Attention!" The commander shouted. The soldiers tensed up and didn't move an inch, Chadwick and the others as well. "Salutations!" The commander screamed. The front row moved their arms into the military salute, one arm on their heart and the other on their back. The second row followed in an instant, the third, the fourth. Each row followed as if the commander sent a shockwave into the crowd with his voice.

The commander nodded, he had a tired look on his face, the same face he presumably had every year when new recruits joined the trainees squad. Lifting his hand, he motioned for the lines to split in half into a walkway that he could walk down, he was going to talk to every single trainee.

Sarah and Chadwick split apart and stood 10 yards apart from each other, facing one another while the rows behind them did the same.

Markus stood across from Caroline, with Chadwick two or three people to his right. He stood in salute, and tried to hide a smile.

While the rows of trainees continued to split apart, the commander walked up to Markus and looked down into his eyes, dark shadows spread across his face as if the sun wouldn't shine onto the angered wrinkles that he had. "Got something to say, kid?"

"No Sir. Just Happy to be here." Markus nodded, and adjusted his salute.

"Nice choice of words, kid." The commander lifted his hand and patted Markus on top of the head, he scrunched his fingers together after several pats and managed to gain a solid grip onto Markus' hair, pulling at it to try and get him to move out of place from the pain. "What's your name?"

"Markus Ritter sir." He said, not wincing from the pain like his body told him too. Since he was a few inches taller than The Commander, he couldn't lift it that much, so the pain wasn't that bad. He slightly stood taller on his toes, to relieve some of the pain.

"And what's your reason for being here?" The commander asked, letting go of Markus' hair and leaving it in snags.

"To train. And one day go outside the wall to return what was once ours!" Markus said, at the same time he patted down his hair, then returned to his salute.

A girl behind Markus tensed up from hearing him say 'outside the walls' she accidentally swung her foot forward and kicked him in the back of the leg.

Caroline turned towards the girl and formed her mouth into a snarl. "Do that again and my foot will go up your ass." She growled, forgetting about the commander just a few feet away.

"Sorry, it's just a problem I have in my leg, it has a mind of it's own." The girl replied keeping her eyes forward at the commander.

The commander rested his hand on Markus' cheek and quickly slapped it against him, causing him to stumble to the side. The commander walked forward and walked towards the two. He stared down the girl and Caroline. "Your names?" He snapped while exchanging glances.

"Caroline hartmann." She said through gritted teeth. She exchanged glances with Sarah.

Markus looked to Chadwick, as if saying "Do something." His eyes then fell on a rock, that lay next to Chadwick's feet.

"Annabelle Springston, sir." The girl replied as a sweat drop rolled down her cheek.

"Excuse me, sir." Chadwick called out towards the commander.

The commander turned around and stared past Markus' head towards Chadwick, both of them exchanged an agitated glance with one another before a rock nailed him right in the nose.

Sarah opened her mouth as if she was making a silent gasp. She continued making eye contact with Caroline.

Markus covered his mouth before he laughed, but that didn't last long. Because it eventually slipped out.

Caroline nearly doubled over laughing, she knew they were in for it, but that didn't matter to her at the moment.

The commander recoiled his head and a large red spot was bruised onto his nose, a look of anger on his eyes. He started walking towards where Chadwick was standing, not saying anything, just huffing.

Chadwick put his hands back into his salute and kept his eyes pierced at the commander, not apologizing or anything. The two never blinked.

The sound of tearing was heard off a few yards away. The commander turned his head to see a young man tossing a small chicken dumpling into his mouth and licking his fingers. He seemed to be chuckling as he ate.
